About The Role

Our early-stage team is seeking an AR/VR Electrical Engineer to design and develop our first publicly available AR/VR headset. In this role, you will play a crucial part in creating innovative hardware products that embody portability and power efficiency, aesthetics, and manufacturability. The AR/VR Electrical Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, program management, and manufacturing, to define and refine product requirements and design goals. Your work will ensure the successful delivery of our hardware devices while maintaining a strong focus on user needs and experiences.

Your Responsibilities

  • Design electrical engineering solutions to achieve innovative AR/VR features related to sensors, displays, latency, and weight reduction.
  • Bring an understanding of the AR/VR use case to the design and EE technical specification.
  • Analyze top-level system requirements and translate them into comprehensive, actionable electrical system specifications that ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Design schematics, specify components, direct board layout, and participate in system level design reviews.
  • Participate in the device assembly, test, and debug process.
  • Foster clear and consistent communication with cross-functional teams, actively documenting requirements, decisions, and progress throughout the development process.
  • Proactively identify and address potential risks, challenges, and bottlenecks in the electrical system design and implementation process.
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing partner’s engineering team, including delegating and reviewing technical work.

Your Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in consumer electronics or wearable technology.
  • At least 4+ years of experience as an EE.
  • In-depth understanding of Electrical Engineering principles and practices.
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following areas: CPU/SOC, power (DC-DC converters, battery, power management, lower power design), analog circuits, audio/camera/display/ wireless integration, and measurement, sensor design and integration.
  • Demonstrated expertise in prototyping, bring-up, debugging, and validation of complex electrical systems.
  • Track record of successful collaboration with cross-functional teams, including mechanical design and software development.
  • Strong interest or experience in computer vision, AR/VR, or object tracking technologies.
  • Ability to travel, as required, up to 10%
