Join Ready At Dawn and the Echo VR team, to help guide the future of social and multiplayer gaming in VR! We are seeking an experienced Lead Artist excited about making an impact on the future of the VR medium and helping in building up an Art team to carry forth the vision of the Echo VR franchise into the future.The ideal candidate for the Lead Artist role is an experienced manager with a background as a 3D art generalist, an excellent mix of aesthetic, technical, and communication skills, and a passion for creating VR games and leading a team of artists in a highly collaborative environment.In this leadership position we are also looking for a strong ability to serve as an advocate for the art team, to help nurture and guide other artists, through both mentorship and critique, as well as a passionate collaborative partner alongside the design and gameplay teams to prototyping unique and engaging gameplay experiences. Ultimately the Lead Artist's role is help set creative and aesthetic vision with the project Art Director and to support and empower the entire art team to make gameplay experiences that are fun, intuitive, and visually stunning.The Lead Artist is also very much involved in helping to advance the overall studio art process through R&D and pipeline development, alongside the various art, tools, and engine teams.

Lead Artist (Echo VR) - Ready at Dawn Responsibilities:

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of artists and art leads to define the aesthetic vision and production execution of the future of the Echo VR franchise.
  • Help establish pipelines, and best practices for art creation, while working alongside the project Art Director.
  • Ability to create assets while collaborating with other art and design disciplines to help guide the team through pre-production visual development tests and ideation.
  • Provide feedback and mentorship to other artists on the team and continue to expand the capabilities of the art team, through training and team building, refinements of process and techniques, and candidate recruiting and hiring.
  • Collaborate with tools and engine teams to continually improve upon our custom workflows and technology.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience as a 3D Artist in a Lead or Senior level role.
  • Portfolio that demonstrates a technical and artistic execution in game art with experience in asset/shader creation, lighting, and VFX/post processing effects.
  • Experience working in real-time game engines and solid understanding of optimization for memory and frame rate.
  • Experience giving and receiving creative and artistic critique.
  • Interest in games and the future of Virtual Reality.
