DESCRIPTION

As a UX Designer, you will own key aspects of the user experience and visual design of a magical and useful consumer product. Our team specializes in inventing new-to-world, category creating products using advanced sensing, display, and machine learning technologies. This role is on a new cross-functional team with the impact, autonomy, flexibility, and speed of innovation of a high-growth startup, powered by the resources of Amazon.

This position requires monthly travel to San Francisco, can be based in Seattle, SF Bay, San Diego, Los Angeles, Austin, Boston, Denver or Arlington, VA, and has the flexibility to work from home the majority of the week. Job responsibilities

Create a variety of designs, including low-fidelity wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, interactive prototypes, and detailed specs for every phase of product development.

Collaborate closely with an integrated team of UX design, UX motion, UX research, and product management to use design thinking to innovate for customers.

Provide real-time feedback to engineering by evaluating prototypes and internal builds to improve or simplify the design spec based on technical limitations or new information.

Become a domain expert through daily use of prototypes, competitive, and complementary products to develop a deep product intuition.

Collaborate on quantitative & qualitative user research programs to evaluate your designs and to drive product decisions. Regularly talk with customers, document insights, and champion features & improvements.

Use design reviews & critique to drive continuous improvement towards a minimal, polished, and delightful user experience.


Basic Qualifications

3+ years of experience in delivering design solutions as a UX / UI / product designer.

Bachelor’s degree in a design or technical field, or equivalent professional experience.

Ability to go from abstract concepts to low-fidelity mockups reflecting a range of options, then critique, evaluate, and finalize into high-fidelity mockups with design spec.

An online portfolio demonstrating experience shipping new product experiences with strong visual design skills.

Proficiency in presenting design work for review and feedback.

Experience in a variety of modern design tools (e.g. Figma).


Preferred Qualifications

Visual design craft demonstrated through mockups and style guides.

Ability to think spatially, with 3D design experience in motion design, animation, AR/VR, games, architecture, or industrial design.

Experience in designing interactions for multi-modal input (e.g. voice, gesture, hands, contextual, spatial).

Experience designing for multiple platforms such as web, mobile, games, multi-modal, TV, VR/AR, or robotics.

Experience designing delightful consumer products.

Experience designing software user interfaces and experiences for hardware products.

Experience evaluating designs through qualitative, quantitative, formal, and informal user research, either directly or in collaboration with user researchers.

Additional design skills in related fields, including motion design, creative coding, or programming.
