Meta is looking for a creative, experienced, and flexible Consumer Communications Manager for its AR/VR Reality Labs products. This person will be a member of the Reality Labs AR/VR Communications team, leading consumer communications for products like the Meta Quest 2 VR headset and Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses. The successful candidate will drive the consumer communications strategy for Meta’s AR and VR hardware products by understanding business goals, working with business partners, developing program ideas and strategies, and then executing on consumer campaigns to reach the appropriate audiences. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, great with media, patient, and is creative in developing diverse communications campaigns to achieve business goals. They’ll love digging into the data on their own and with partners on teams like marketing to understand audiences. They’ll be passionate about emerging technologies, excited to work closely with many cross-functional partners, and will be comfortable in fluid environments with tight deadlines.

Consumer Communications Manager, Reality Labs Responsibilities:

  • Understand business goals to inform and develop a comprehensive strategy for engaging the consumer/lifestyle press and audiences around AR/VR hardware
  • Build and maintain a narrative for AR and VR tailored to consumer press
  • Own and nurture relationships with consumer/lifestyle reporters and outlets on behalf of AR and VR teams
  • Plan and execute proactive campaigns and beats targeted to the consumer press audience, partnering with subject matter experts on the comms team for content, product, etc.
  • Drive subject specific communications and narrative developments around specific use cases such as VR fitness. This will likely expand audiences to include some tech press and working with partners on the wider communications team to do this
  • Manage consumer PR agency
  • Provide product reviews campaign support during product launches

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field
  • 8+ years of work experience in external communications or media relations
  • Experience with media relations across consumer publications
  • Experience drafting narratives
  • Experience working with executives

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in hardware communications and software products/services
  • Experience working on AR/VR technologies and/or emerging tech categories
  • Experience with privacy and security elements of product communications
  • Proficiency with media relations and placements across business, tech and consumer press
