Job Description

The Product Engineer for the Virtual Reality User Experience will be responsible for enabling consistent designs and user experience across Infotainment components like head unit / radios, displays, rear seat entertainment & instrument panel clusters. The candidate will lead a team that is responsible for the virtual validation of the consumer interface features, entertainment and comfort control features in the automotive cabin by collaborating with the internal cross-functional global teams. The leader will have direct supervision responsibility of a modeling engineering team, and will also be responsible for developing processes, state-of-the-art tools and methodologies to achieve program deliverables, reduce development time, and improve first-time capabilities and will attend internal planning meetings representing virtual reality user experience for future products ensuring hardware and software resources are at capacity.

Job Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To
  • Interact with release engineering, HMI, PDO, and design integrity departments on activities before feature requirements complete
  • Coordinate weekly global team meetings to review the status of all ongoing projects and address roadblocks
  • Determine the complete hardware/software requirements to enable virtual reality tools usage for upfront simulation of digital cabin electronics features & user experience using VR (Virtual Reality)/AR (Augmented Reality)/MR (Mixed Reality) tools
  • Support cross-functional teams to review supplier design proposals and provide enablers to achieve design to manufacturing, cost & quality
  • Support engineering changes for digital cabin components before tooling kick-off in coordination with release engineering, PDO and design integrity groups
  • Investigate customer and production suggestions/ issues and work with team leaders to support production and make improvements
  • Keep informed on the latest industry trends and technology related to automotive digital cabin user experience, tools & methods
  • Perform general duties described for engineering group leader, including performance reviews for team members, mentor/coach team members to improve their performance and address gaps, and hiring new engineers
The successful candidate must have the ability to work as part of a team, be self-motivated, and be able to interface with all levels of management.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Software Engineering or equivalent
  • 5 plus years of prior experience in automotive product development
  • Depth of experience in EE cabin components such as instrument clusters, radios/head units and displays
  • Project management experience
  • Strong computer science and data analysis skills
  • Excellent communication skills -- both orally and in writing
  • Outstanding problem solving/analytical skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Engineering
  • DFSS Black Belt or Green Belt
  • Automotive experience with launching new model production
  • Siemens Teamcenter working knowledge
  • NX working knowledge
  • Google Suites applications
