From mixed reality and human interaction to natural input and beyond, XR Tech is focused on taking new technologies from early concept to the product level while iterating, prototyping, and realizing the human value and new experiences they open up.We are seeking a Rendering System Architect with a background in graphics and image rendering pipeline to drive the development of novel rendering platform techniques for VR, AR, and Mixed Reality headsets. As a Rendering System Architect, you will be working closely with our researchers and developers to optimize and develop a new graphics display pipeline including compression, efficient/foveated renderings, novel graphics co-processors exploration, encoding, display, and optics correction techniques for the upcoming products. To satisfy the demanding needs of immersive experience, you are expected to solve a range of technical challenges in the areas of real-time image processing, low power rendering, latency mitigation, and sensor fusion.

Software Engineer - Graphics (Technical Leadership) Responsibilities:

  • Drive the organization goal towards graphics and image processing impacting VR and AR product lines
  • Effectively communicate to leadership team and the industry partners complex features & systems
  • Understand industry and Facebook wide technology trends in computing technology to help assess & develop new technologies within FRL family
  • Suggest, collect and synthesize requirements and create an effective feature roadmap towards AR and VR product lines
  • Invent next-generation platforms to deliver more comfortable and immersive graphics experiences on VR and AR headsets
  • Adapt standard machine learning methods to best exploit modern parallel environments (e.g. distributed clusters, multicore SMP, and GPU)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in programming languages (Python, C++ or Java) with technical background
  • 5+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, computer graphics or image processing
  • Experience leading consumer-based projects with industry-wide impact
  • Cross-functional partner, working across functions to drive solutions
  • Experience in mentoring/influencing senior engineers across organizations
  • Highly experienced in the mobile graphics pipeline and interaction across display and optics
  • Experience in encoding/compression technologies in graphics display pipeline
  • Experience in working with graphics hardware and drivers on mobile platforms

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have developed or modified graphics display pipeline on mobile platform
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related technical field
  • Experience in modern display technologies
  • Experience in 3D graphics pipeline
  • Experience working on VR, AR and/or MR
  • Experience with mobile CPU/GPU/DSP programming
  • Experience with human vision science
  • Experience with OS internals and kernel development/debugging for Android and/or Linux
