Meta’s Reality Labs team is shaping the future of consumer electronics in the emerging Augmented and Virtual Reality industries and the game-changing Portal products. As the CMF Team Lead and Manager, you will build and guide the team to deliver across the growing Meta hardware portfolio. You will bring technical depth, organizational navigation, hands-on design expertise, and management skills together naturally.You will partner with the industrial design team to create products that strive for inevitability based, in part, on how they are made and what they are made of. You will help build in appropriate CMF flexibility while ensuring high quality outcomes. From wearables to home devices, you will balance the needs of supporting the near term roadmap while building a longer term strategic material development pipeline. In the industrial design team, you and the CMF team will be a key contributor bringing our next generation hardware and experiences to life. You have experience designing and shipping world class consumer products and are comfortable working collaboratively with cross-discipline teams.
Color, Material, Finish (CMF) Design Manager Responsibilities:
- Build, lead, and evangelize a world class CMF team that can deliver across wearables, CE devices, and longer term investments
- Work alongside ID to design and build category-defining hardware products and user experiences
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure high quality CMF execution across the Meta portfolio
- Be a key contributor, solving multi-faceted design challenges in a hands-on design studio and lab environment
- Work collaboratively with partner teams to solve complex technical and manufacturing challenges
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience managing and mentoring teams in highly matrixed organizations
- 4+ years of design experience, encompassing interaction design and visual design with proficiency designing across platforms
- 4+ years of experience working cross functionally with teams such as engineering, industrial design and user research
- Experience building and shipping wearables that offer consumer choice Experience leading the CMF discipline with the experience to develop product goals, identify opportunities, and make decisions based on the impact to people and the company
- Experience to represent work to a broader product team and other leaders, clearly and succinctly articulating the goals and concepts
- Experience with delivering CMF solutions on 0-1 products from concept stages to launch
- Experience working on large scale, complex, ambiguous projects across multiple teams
