At Reality Labs Research, our goal is to explore, innovate, and design novel interfaces and hardware for virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are driving research towards a vision of an always-on augmented reality device that can enable high-quality, contextually relevant interactions across a range of complex, dynamic, real-world tasks in natural environments; to achieve this goal, our team draws on methods and knowledge from artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, and human–computer interaction. More broadly, the chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.The ideal candidate for this role is a self-starter, a good team player, and creative problem solver that is able to switch easily between detailed work and high-level strategic thinking. This candidate will be deeply familiar with security fundamentals, understand what drives consumer privacy, and be able to use this knowledge to promote better security and privacy in Meta’s products and services. This role is a Technical Program Manager on our data team, focusing on two critical areas in the use of data for a research unit. The first is to lead our internal privacy compliance process. This role is responsible for ensuring that our data is collected and used responsibly according to privacy regulations and guidelines. The second is to run our data annotation program. This role will be responsible for setting up new annotation capabilities and supporting research teams’ utilization of those capabilities.
Technical Program Manager, Annotations and Privacy Reality Labs Research Responsibilities:
- Lead the privacy approvals process serving as the subject matter expert for the privacy approvals process, prepare the submissions for that process, and be responsible for the approval and execution of the resulting work
- Serve as a subject matter expert for all privacy topics in other areas
- Drive the data annotation process for datasets including identifying the best methods to annotate a dataset, leading the annotation of the dataset, and delivering the annotated data
- Owning vendor relationships/contracts to perform data annotation
- Educate technical staff on the privacy approvals process and data annotation methods available to them
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of experience in program management
- 2+ years experience working in an area of data collection or annotation
- 3+ years experience in operational security or privacy topics such as information technology security, data protection, or regulatory compliance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a research organization
- Experience with data collection and annotations for a machine learning use case
- Operations experience in a large technical company, especially with vendor management and contracts
- Experience in a matrixed organization influencing cross functional teams, partners, and stakeholders
- Experience or education in software privacy and security
