The Meta Reality Labs Research team drives the state-of-the-art of AR and VR forward with breakthrough work in machine learning, displays, sensors, graphics, and new ways to map the human body. As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) in Meta RLR, you'll be a critical member of a multi-disciplinary team building prototypes to advance these research efforts. As a TPM for the Graphics Research team, your focus will be exploring and delivering breakthrough solutions for the graphics pipeline. You will be part of an innovative team creating prototype hardware + software for a complex graphics system including the tailored system designs to support User Studies. This will require great systems design skills, excellent collaboration with partners, and a focus on shaping user studies to explore optimal solutions. Ideal team members are adaptable and resilient, eager to attack unfamiliar problems with curiosity and tenacity, and able to use a light touch to find ways to help the team be more efficient.

Technical Program Manager, Research Graphics Responsibilities:

  • Own program management strategy and execution for a complex graphics system covering hardware and software prototypes.
  • Manage the design, development, and delivery of prototype systems that include deliverables focused on electrical engineering, software development, and mechanical design.
  • Work with a cross-functional team of Researchers, hardware and software engineers, Human Perception, and TPMs to set clear deliverables milestones, create integration plans, and identify risks with mitigation plans to deliver a next generation graphics solution.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships across the Graphics Research team and cross-functional leadership.
  • Effectively communicate program goals and status to key cross-functional stakeholders and leadership.
  • Develop schedules, identify critical paths and bottlenecks and maintain execution throughout the duration of programs.
  • Work cross-functionally to develop best practices and technology development processes in a quickly-changing and dynamic environment to ensure on time delivery.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in the design and development of consumer, industrial, or research electronics.
  • 5+ years of program management experience.
  • Interest for being a great communicator. Versatility in drafting, presenting, and facilitating to all levels of the organization technical and non-technical content.
  • Project management, leadership, dependency management, and cross-group collaboration experience across more than one geographic location.
  • Experience working with a cross-disciplinary team of researchers, software engineers, hardware engineers.
  • Early prototyping experience on new technologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of computer graphics systems.
  • Strong understanding for prototyping and validation with FPGAs and Emulators.
  • Experience driving User Research studies for quantifiable outcomes.
  • Experience tech transferring from a research team to product.
