The Lead XR Engineer will work with a team of experienced engineers, 3D modelers/artists and business partners on AR/VR/MR applications within the healthcare industry. This individual is expected to work with many different global business partners on a core XR product team and has excellent communication skills, a team-oriented, collaborative approach to development, and is experienced in many disciplines of XR development—including programming tasks related to a variety of subjects such as physics, graphics, gameplay, networking, math, tools, etc. The Lead is also focused on the quality of their work, learns quickly, completes any programming tasks efficiently, coordinates and manages various XR development SMEs and grasps new technologies and concepts quickly.

Responsibilities
  • Develop XR applications for Tablet and Phone IOS/Android on a variety of platforms such as Unity, webXR and other third-party propriety authoring tools.
  • Operationalize XR content development including SOPs, dev cycles/timelines and WIP reviews.
  • Perform research to acquire new knowledge necessary to perform assigned tasks.
  • Design and develop technical features specific to the core XR application.
  • Design and manage standards for XR processes and development.
  • Design and develop systems that contribute to the core XR technology framework.
  • Work closely with designers, producers, engineers, and artists to ensure the highest quality product.
  • Desire to put in the time and effort necessary to make an end user experience great.
  • Invest the effort and time necessary to complete tasks in a timely fashion as well as making sure they are robust, expandable, and fun!
  • Implement appropriate technology solutions to business partners and guide development teams in how to best implement solutions.
  • Ideation and creation of XR concepts that are core to the J&J healthcare business as a whole.

Required

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 6+ years professional software engineering experience
  • Proven communication skills and experience working in a team environment.
  • Experience leading agile software development teams
  • Hands on experience shipping projects in Unity 3D/Unity Engine for different platforms.
  • Proven C/C#/C++ programming skills, and experienced implementing complex systems with OOO languages.
  • A successful track record in delivering complex e2e XR (both AR and VR) projects (functional, performance and test) for Smartphones, AR glasses and VR goggles.
  • Experience with architecting, developing, and launching applications that include web and mobile

Preferred
  • Experience with source code management using Git
  • Experience with Atlassian tools, especially JIRA
  • Experience in Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Delivery (CD), and tools migration for projects on various platforms such as Jenkins, GitLab, TravisCI, or others
  • Experience with Unreal Engine (UE4) or other game development engines
  • Experience with low level API’s
  • Experience with low level performance optimizations
  • Experience with GxP software development
  • Experience with HIPAA compliance in software development
  • Hands on experience in networking, databases, and cloud systems
  • Extensive knowledge in various scripting languages and system & server administration
  • Experience communicating with external XR teams and businesses to keep standards up to par with industry
