At Reality Labs (RL), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Technical Program Manager to join our team, whose mission is creating the future of input and interaction for AR and VR. We are specifically looking for a candidate with experience in large-scale engineering product development or program management or product management and who can work across a team of engineers, researchers and product managers to help the team deliver novel developments in neural interfaces. The role requires management of multiple large-scale new product development programs in addition to scaling engineering, program management and product development teams. More broadly, the chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of engineers, program managers, product managers and researchers and will have access to cutting edge technology and resources.The right candidate will possess a strong technical program management or product management background, will have demonstrated experience leading large projects across multiple software and hardware teams. You will have a well-rounded technical background, with experience with developing consumer device hardware. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to manage the programs, develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done.

Technical Program Manager - Reality Labs Responsibilities:

  • Articulate the technology, requirements, goals and milestones of your program.
  • Work with engineering and product management teams to define and revise the project plans and roadmaps for the AR software programs.
  • Work with teams to deliver against plans, and keep the org and leadership informed on progress.
  • Drive multiple engineering programs and new product development initiatives.
  • Work across cross-functional partners (hardware engineering, research science, and software engineering) to identify program scope, constraints, dependencies, risks, and timelines.
  • Perform risk management and change management on programs.
  • Drive internal process improvements across multiple teams and functions.
  • Work with teams to set milestones, communicate project statuses, and identify/address potential setbacks.
  • Work with engineering to ensure what we build has the right balance of cost vs. benefit, and focuses on addressing the highest priority partner team and customer needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in technical program management, software product development or product management.
  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience delivering software development programs or products from inception to delivery.
  • Communication and interpersonal experience, including relationship building and collaboration within a cross-functional team.
  • Knowledge of machine learning pipelines, computer vision or human computer interface (HCI) technologies.
  • Knowledge of software development processes and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Software engineering, Data Science or Engineering management.
