The Technology Development Group is seeking an engineer to help define and implement user experience paradigms for various compute environments across our platforms. This engineer will help architect and build the foundation of novel interaction models. Being successful in this area will result in a delightful experience for all users of our products.


Key Qualifications

Experience developing software frameworks and APIs

Understanding of inter-process communication and system level programming concepts

Familiarity with USB interface or similar connectivity technologies

Working knowledge of operating system design and architecture

Strong command of object-oriented programming (C / C++ / Obj-C / Swift preferred)

Excellent communication and presentation skills

Drive to explore new problem areas while learning and navigating uncertainty

Ability to take high level requirements and turn them into deliverable code


Description

We are a team of architects and specialists who are looking for an individual to help build frameworks and system services. The ideal candidate will have strong programming skills in addition to an interest in creating foundational frameworks and APIs. You should be comfortable participating in architecture discussions, taking ownership of specific problem areas, articulating design choices, and delivering highly optimized code in performance-critical environments.

In this role you will work closely with other engineers who are developing system frameworks, services, and interfaces. Your software will integrate with a much larger code base, which will provide a cohesive experience for all users of our products. You will also interact with quality assurance engineers to ensure the right test plans and user scenarios are implemented. You will be responsible for development, testing, performance optimization, and overall quality of the software you develop.


Education & Experience

BS CS/EE or equivalent

- Experience or interest in AR/VR applications

- Experience developing user interfaces

- System daemon design experience

- Experience with iOS / macOS development


Pay & Benefits

At Apple, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays between $117,500 and $217,500, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
