Expected compensation: $55.00 - $62.00 per hour

HireArt is helping the world’s largest social network hire an AR/VR Prototyper to join its Audio Research team, where you’ll work with world-class scientists, designers, and engineers developing breakthrough technologies necessary for virtual, mixed, and augmented reality.

In this role, you'll develop spatial and perceptual audio experiences for AR and VR projects that demonstrate the full potential of 3D audio using future-state research technology. Your work will span both AR and VR domains and be incorporated into larger multi-sensory/multi-modal experiences to be used in user research studies, technology demos, and functional prototypes.

As An AR/VR Prototyper, You’ll
  • Collaborate with research scientists to transform experimental hardware, software, and services into prototype interactive experiences.
  • Implement support for audio features within multi-modal experience development.
  • Research, design, and create interactive prototypes.
  • Collaborate with other technical teams to build and enhance prototyping platforms.
  • Set up and maintain prototypes and present them to various audiences.
  • Communicate analysis of prototypes to your cross-functional partners.
  • Give and solicit real-time feedback from others in order to approve the quality of the product.
  • Partner effectively with PMs, engineers, user researchers, content strategists, and QA, overseeing the implementation of the user experience from product conception to launch — as well as providing post-launch design support.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's in computer science, music and technology, acoustical engineering, or a related degree
  • 2+ of experience with Unity (VR preferred but not required)
  • Proficiency with Unity 3D or Unreal
  • Understanding of basic audio capabilities and manipulatives
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a highly collaborative, ambiguous environment
  • Proficiency with C#
  • Preferred proficiency with Max/MSP
  • Proficiency with MATLAB scripting is a plus
  • Awareness of virtual and augmented reality audio capabilities (e.g. spatialization, reverb, attenuation, etc.) is a plus
  • Optional proficiency with DAWs (Ableton Live, ProTools, Logic Pro, etc.)
Commitment:This is a full-time, 6-month contract position staffed via HireArt and based in Redmond, WA. It will be fully remote until offices reopen and is available to candidates local to the Redmond, WA area.
