Hybrid: This is a Hybrid position within our IT Organization. The role will allow employees to work offsite but will also require onsite work based on business needs. The selected candidate will be expected to commute to the innovation center to which they are assigned as their primary GM facility. This position requires an employee to be onsite 1-3 times per week. Relocation may be provided.

About The Role

The Senior VR/AR/MR Software Engineer is responsible for developing 3D applications for simulation and interactive 3D visualization within the Manufacturing IT organization. The role entails working with a team of AI, 3D, and robotics engineers to improve the vehicle manufacturing process. This is an exciting opportunity to use tools that are typically used in the video game industry but are rapidly becoming relevant to the automotive industry. The ideal candidate will have experience with 3D development.

Additional Job Description

Required Experience:

• 7+ years in the software engineering industry
• 3+ years of experience with Unity 3D and/or Unreal Engine
• Experience developing interactive applications for virtual reality and/or mixed reality (e.g., HoloLens/Magic Leap)
• Knowledge in C++, C#, Python
• Knowledge of 3D modeling software (Blender, Maya, Siemens NX, etc.) and ability to manipulate 3D geometry
• Strong problem-solving skills and persistence to push through
• Designing interactive visualization for mixed reality devices and VR devices
• Developing AR applications for mobile devices and tablets
• Collaborating with internal GM customers to create useful VR/MR tools to help them be more productive
• Building 3D model preparation pipelines to convert CAD models to triangulated meshes
• Seeking out new software, frameworks, tools, and skills to solve novel problems
