EMG Signal Processing Research Engineer

Employer

Job Description

At Reality Labs Research, our goal is to explore, innovate, and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Signal Processing Research Engineer to join our team, whose mission is creating the future of input and interaction for AR and VR. We are specifically looking for a candidate with experience in human biosignal processing who can work with a team of researchers who develop state-of-the-art neural interface prototypes. More broadly, the chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities. We want to work with bright and capable people that flourish in interdisciplinary collaborations and are passionate about developing new technologies that are genuinely useful.

EMG Signal Processing Research Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Develop algorithms that apply state-of-the-art methods for non-invasive physiological signal processing and analysis (e.g. surface electromyography (EMG), electrocardiography, photoplethysmography) to improve the performance of sensing systems in the lab and on humans.
  • Collect, analyze, and manage complex multimodal physiological datasets.
  • Employ quantitative research methods to define, iterate upon, and advance our research on non-invasive physiological sensing systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters or PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, Neuroscience, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or other relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years experience with signal processing, biosignal algorithms, or related field in industry or postdoc.
  • 4+ years experience collecting and analyzing physiological datasets to bring-up and validate bioinstrumentation systems in industry or postdoc.
  • Experience with modern statistical programming languages, e.g. Python, R, MATLAB, or PyTorch.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the domain of machine learning, statistics, analysis, and real-time signal processing.
  • Experience designing algorithms for electromyography (EMG).
  • Strong communication and personal management skills.
  • Experience leading and building teams and projects in a cross-functional industry environment.
