The Reality Labs team at Meta is building products that make it easier for people to connect with the ones they love most. Our goal is to make world-class consumer virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are a team of world-class experts, industry-leading scientists and engineers to research the future technologies that will make VR and AR pervasive and universal. Optics and Display Research group is part of the RL and it will focus on the medium and long term research for new solution for optical systems to be integrated in the future VR/AR. The Lab Management group in Optics & Display Research (O&DR) is currently seeking for a dynamic Clean Room Engineer. This person should have a passion for working across technical disciplines to support micro and nanofabrication of integrated optical devices experiments allover several research groups. The candidate should also work on improving the capabilities and the processes for such support.
Clean Room Engineer, Optics & Display Research Responsibilities:
- Be a driver for cleanroom tools and facilities management and maintenance.
- Help support scientific activities, processes, and technologies for O&DR and external teams.
- Participate in research project reviews.
- Compile construction and maintenance schedules with facilities, help define new projects, and strategize tool installations.
- Help drive process development.
- Drive equipment engineering schedules, create and maintain policies and procedures for design, and develop and implement tools and facilities.
- Ensure all the equipment engineering projects, initiatives, and processes comply with established policies and objectives.
- Work in close contact with EHS to develop a safety culture, help train users, monitor safety, review SOPs, and coordinate in case of emergency.
- Provide help to design new labs and facilities.
- Provide help preparing budget proposals.
- Coordinate tool upgrades with Facilities and Operations and retooling for research projects.
- Help design new setups for research projects.
- Resolve and escalate issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
- Participate in the recruiting process.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in Electrical, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- 4+ years of experience in clean-room laboratories.
- 2+ years of experience in direct tools management.
- Experience working in laboratories with multi-function/multi-disciplinary threads across Optics, Mechanics, Chemistries, Hardware, Software, and Firmware.
- Experience with nanofabrication processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters in Physics, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering or related degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with a diversified, multidisciplinary group of people.
- Experience working across disciplines and with both technical and non-technical team members.
- Proven teamwork and collaboration experience.
- Experience in nanofabrication systems research.
- Expertise in a few of the following areas: Optical Lithography, Dry Etching, and Laser sources.
- Proven track record of achieving results as demonstrated by papers, grants, fellowships, and patents.
