XR Engineer Architect in New York, Chicago, Denver, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Jose

You'll play an integral role within our fast-paced interdisciplinary team to design interactive, immersive and engaging solutions for clients. Working with design leads, you'll be responsible for the initial concept, the detailed elements of the functional design, and overall continuity and support throughout development. You should be prepared to interact with clients regularly, understanding their goals and determining the best approach to meet their needs .

Work you'll do

An XR Architect at Deloitte is expected to contribute to the firm's growth and development in a variety of ways, including:
  • Recognizes projects at risk for being over budget and can work with engagement management to find solutions to correct budget or time issues. Effectively steers engineering and team efforts in client's interest, and without self-interest or undue personal bias. Provides direction for other engineers to coordinate group efforts
  • Oversee client relationship from a technical standpoint; discuss and explain technical limitations and options; provide guidance and explain best practices for primary development platform
  • Effectively communicates engineering choices to clients and non-engineers. Can articulate and defend architecture and implementation choices to clients in terms they respect and understand.
  • Participate and lead aspects of the technical pieces of the proposal development process; contribute to the development of proposal engineering pricing strategies
  • Demonstrates knowledge of emerging technologies and influences (industries, trends, behavior) that impact our clients
  • Lead engineering teams and perform role of counselor and coach; provide input and guidance into the staffing process; Mentors junior engineers on application of architectural concepts. Seek input and feedback on architecture approaches with Senior Architects. Work closely with other disciplines (Game Design, UX, 3D Design, Visual Design)
  • Ensure projects are following a code review process. Lead critiques and problem solving sessions. Ensures that frameworks and components chosen for implementation are being used correctly to solve the problem for a given project.
What You Have
  • 8+ years' industry experience in game-based software engineering, augmented reality, mixed reality and virtual reality development.
  • 5+ years of working experience in a game engine (Unity/Unreal)
  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency with Angular, ES5/6, TypeScript, React, A-Frame, or other game engines
  • Comfortable with source control management, preferably Git
  • Conceptual approaches to software architecture
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS Visio, MS PowerPoint)
  • Agile based software delivery with a devops culture
  • Ability to travel 10-30% of the time (Monday-Thursday/Friday)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the Untied States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
Bonus Points:
  • Intermediate proficiency with front end/back end development languages including HTML 5, AngularJS, .NET, NodeJS
  • Experience and knowledge with the vendor ecosystem including such companies as Meta, Google, Apple, Magic Leap, Nvidia, Unity, Unreal, Sony, and PTC/Vuforia
  • Working knowledge of accessibility frameworks
  • Willingness to learn new things and teach others what you know
  • Desire to research and develop eminence in the area of XR development
  • Belief that all things can be better
For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in Colorado, Deloitte is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the State of Colorado and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and delivery model. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top end of the range, but such a decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the range is $113,000 to $151,000.
