About the Creative Technology Director role:

Nexus Studios, a leader in real-time immersive entertainment, is hiring an experienced Creative Technology Director to drive innovation with our large tech partners. This is a client-facing and managerial role with opportunity for hands-on work as well, working and learning at the cutting edge of XR technologies, including VPS, smart glasses, 5G edge compute, and interactive narrative. Your efforts will include both responding to inquiries and helping to develop proactive approaches to continue to engage a premiere client list including Niantic, Google, Meta, Apple, Verizon, AT&T, Netflix, and Disney.

Your work will focus on augmented reality immersive technologies AR/VR/MR, and will involve researching new technologies to either take a hands-on role or source the relevant talent. The Creative Technology Director participates across production – in ideation, pitching, scoping, resourcing, talent management, client management, and oversees deliverables.

As such, this is a creative, technical, and production role, you’ll be working with Creative Directors, writers, UI and UX Designers, and producers to imagine and design new experiences and stories using the latest developments in software and hardware.

You will bring:

• Excellent communication. Be a thoughtful listener and a clear speaker, both with staff and crew and with clients. You will help concept and sell ideas, explain technology, and think outside of the box on your feet, in a production environment..
• Strong management methodology, building and leading teams, and liasoning dev teams with other teams. A clear understanding of the scope of production vs. creative vs technical, and eagerness to help streamline processes across divisions.
• A calming, organizing presence, with experience working in a fast-paced production environment (8 -16 week timelines).
• An ability to build a robust network of people to draw talent from / know the local community in the XR innovation space. Can identify the best people for the job.
• A hands-on approach when necessary, but also effective if in meetings much of the day.
• Excitement about interfacing with a creative team globally.
• A wide breadth of technical knowledge across interactive real-time animation techniques and processes. Knowledgeable about what is innovative vs gimmicky.
• Expertise in these areas required:

• General Unity / Unreal / or Real-time Engine knowledge
• Management of Technical Leads and projects engaged in Mobile / HMD XR Development

• Expertise in one or more of the following areas is a plus:

• AR / VR Spatial UX Programming (C++ or C#)
• Software Architecture and System Design
• Multi-user networking
• Visual Positioning Systems
• Real-time Motion Capture
• Graphics Rendering Pipelines
• Real-time VFX and Compute Shaders
• Machine Learning for Artists
• AI-driven Character Behaviors
• Product Development
• Immersive Audio
