Microsoft HoloLens Team is continuing to revolutionize consumer electronic devices. We are looking for a highly-motivated Senior Compliance and Certification Engineer, who will report to Senior Director of Product Integrity in Mixed Reality Organization. This position can be based in Redmond, WA or Mountain View, CA. Occasional domestic and international travel might be required. The ideal Senior Compliance and Certification engineer has a proven track record of ensuring that hardware products are compliant and safe beyond regulatory requirements and industry standards, without sacrificing cutting edge functionality or design, and is effective in sharing their knowledge with peers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • The job candidate will have a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements including EMI/EMC, Safety, and Environmental requirements for military and ITE products. The candidate will work with both internal design teams, and external customers to properly document the compliance requirements required for the products.
  • The candidate will also work with internal, and external customers (including enterprise customers) to translate the industry standards and certification/clearance requirements applicable to the products (including Cleanroom, Construction, Medical, Surgical environments etc.), to design documents, and product requirements.
  • Provide clear requirements to the software and hardware development teams and ensure designs meet all applicable internal compliance specifications.
  • Project manage the testing at third-party test labs including budgeting, scheduling, test execution, and report reviews.
  • The successful candidate will be a strong communicator, think critically, work collaboratively, and be able to analyze & distill complex issues.
Qualifications

Required
  • 8+ years of experience working with consumer electronic or military products.
  • B.S. or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • Experience in defining, spec’ing, and developing features through experimentation with engineering teams.
  • Experimentation mindset and data-driven; understands broader business success metrics
  • Experience in EMI/EMC, Safety, Regulatory Compliance, Product Integrity, Manufacturing or Reliability
  • Effective use of project management principles and tools
  • Able to analyze and organize complex data (Tableau, powerBI, ADO)
  • Must have strong communication skills, good organization, and an ability to work with minimum supervision
  • This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services governed by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Due to contractual limitations and ITAR obligations associated with this role, U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, or protected person status under 8 U.S.C.
  • 1324b(a)(3) is required
Preferred
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Optical preferred) or a Master's Degree in Business Administration
  • 2+ years of engineering experience in Mixed Reality device development, compliance, and certifications.
  • Working knowledge of safety standards for consumer electronics (IEC 60950-1 or 62368-1)
  • Understanding of EMI/EMC requirements for unintentional and intentional radiation sources in different requirement domains, worldwide, and for ITE, MIL, Medical products
  • Knowledge of FDA or Medical Devices Approvals and Clearances is a plus.
  • Experience with IEC 63145 standard for AR type devices is also a plus.
Experience conducting third-party test labs and manufacturing audits
