We are a team that cares more about your passion and perseverance to succeed than anything on your resume specifically. The ideal candidate will have impressive sculpting and texturing skills with production experience in real-time art and have worked in VR and/or mobile games previously. This person should have Medical Illustration training or an extreme amount of self education in human and comparative anatomy.
The organic modeler creates assets that are medically accurate down to the finest detail, aesthetically pleasing and optimized, and medically accurate down to the finest detail, for Osso VR’s customers including Doctors, Residents, and Reps.
Primary Responsibilities include:
- Create models in Zbrush/Maya based upon real-world and conceptual references with guidance from the Art Director and Lead artists to achieve desired look of materials/textures for organic assets.
- Work within Unity engine to preview, iterate, optimize, and polish models to a quality bar and visual direction as set by the Art Director while upholding and maintaining modeling standards for rigging, deformation, and simulation within performance budgets and other run-time requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the Art Director, Senior leadership, and all other disciplines including Tech Art and Production to help set and maintain the quality standard across the team. Work with junior level artists creating and aiding direction and feedback.
- Consistently self-educate and research medical information, new software, hardware and other related technology while providing input to drive new technology and pipeline innovations.
Required Skills and Interests:
- Above all a deep understanding of Human and potentially animal anatomy paired with a humble desire to discover and share more with the understanding of healthy critiquing and how to motivate and elevate others. Our culture is special and paramount in importance to us.
- Advanced capabilities in Maya, Zbrush, Photoshop, Substance Suite, Marmoset Toolbag. Knowledge of Unity Engine a bonus.
- You should be comfortable/respectful of viewing surgical procedures and cadavers as reference material with an interest and passion for the medical space and also Virtual Reality.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to self-manage, multi-task, adapt, and learn new skills, paired with a strong interest in expressing empathy, compassion, and motivation for mission based work.
- A maintained ability to understand and be comfortable with not knowing everything combined with the ability to quickly and often praise as well as give due credit to others’ contributions.
Bonus:
- Interest in creating concept art both in 3d and 2d to assist the Art Director with expressing and innovating new features.
- Ability or interest in any of the following; rigging, blendshapes, scripting and animation.
