Job Description
Meta is looking for an experienced VR privacy communications manager to join the Reality Labs communications team. This person will be a member of the team that leads communications for Meta’s AR, VR and hardware products, including the Quest 2 VR headset. At Reality Labs, our work is guided by our Responsible Innovation Principles, which help us ensure privacy, security and safety are at the forefront of Meta’s products. In this role, you will drive the communications strategy and narrative around privacy in Meta’s VR products, develop messaging on the privacy controls and tools in Meta’s VR technology, and partner with VR product communications leads on launches of new products and features. This person will work closely with a cross-functional team to provide communications support and strategic counsel on Meta’s VR privacy product strategy.The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about emerging technology, comfortable working closely with cross-functional partners and executives alike, and has strong writing and media relations skills. Candidates must have experience managing complex communications with a strong eye for detail and excels working under tight deadlines.
VR Product Communications - Privacy Responsibilities:
- Lead communications around privacy in Meta’s VR products and technology.
- Develop communications strategies and narratives around VR privacy features and tools that educate press and consumers about Meta’s VR products and vision.
- Draft proactive and reactive messaging and press responses and manage in-bound press inquiries on privacy in VR.
- Interface and consult regularly with cross-functional teams including policy, legal, product, marketing and engineering across Reality Labs and Meta.
- Partner closely with VR product communications leads on product and feature launches.
- Develop and pitch stories that demonstrate Meta’s commitment to privacy in VR, and draft blog posts and other communications materials.
- Build and cultivate strong relationships with media, including tech, business and policy reporters.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or related field.
- 8+ years of work experience in product, privacy or policy communications, journalism or related field.
- Experience distilling complex technology concepts into plain language.
- Experience working under pressure with deadlines and on complex issues.
- Experience managing diverse cross-functional stakeholder relations in fast-paced and ambiguous environments, including working collaboratively with cross-functional groups including policy, legal, marketing and product.
- Experience managing crisis communications situations with thoughtful decision-making and effective internal and external coordination.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with communications for consumer hardware products.
- Experience working on communications related to privacy or security technology.
