Three Space Lab (3SL) is an early-stage MIT Media Lab spin-off company working on mixed reality software solutions for team collaboration and learning. The current portfolio of projects is divided between these two areas while sharing a common infrastructure across all of them. On the education side, we make tools and content for middle school, high school, and university-level learning, with an emphasis on STEM. Our approach is centered around interactive spatial visualization and simulation. On the team collaboration side, we are building a product that we plan to release in summer of 2022. Past company projects have focused on electricity and magnetism, crystal structures, 3D scanning, and tools for collaborative visual design.


Three Space Lab is seeking a UI/UX Designer collaboratively envision and implement innovative interfaces for mixed reality products related to team collaboration and learning. The ideal candidate should have experience with 3D and immersive interaction design, along with the related asset pipelines, including dynamic, algorithmic representations for UI elements. The ability to maintain design consistency across a portfolio of related projects is essential. Candidates should also be enthusiastic about sharing their process and design rationale with other team members.


Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate development of a unified UI/UX system for 3SL's VR and AR applications
  • Prototyping and creation of interactive assets for VR applications in collaboration with other development team members


Top Priority Attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree in art and/or design (or equivalent work experience)
  • Experience with UI/UX design
  • Skilled at communicating their design rationales, responding to and integrating feedback
  • Experience creating interactive assets for VR applications
  • Familiarity with industry-grade modeling tools such as Blender or Maya
  • Experience working with design teams on 3D and/or VR assets
