Duration: 2 year contract

Experience Needed with the Following:
-5 years in Technical Writing
-Creating documentation for electromechanical systems or robotics
-Creating Block Diagrams and Bill of Materials
-Working within Data Sheet Repositories
-Writing SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
-Standardizing documentation and visual communication styles across internal groups
-Creating documentation on components, for example, “how to” guides for setting up robotic equipment

Pluses:
-Experience working with more advanced, version control software with live document and graphical updating
-Experience looking at how everything is documented in an organization and making suggestions for organizing, even software suggestions for more efficient documentation
-Governance experience or experience reviewing which documents need extra governance and making software suggestions on how to lock certain documents

Day to Day:
Insight Global is hiring a Technical Writer for a Virtual Reality Lab in the Pittsburgh area. This person would be responsible for creating documentation for Processes and Standard Operating Procedures for a wide variety of experimental AR and VR research studies using large-scale capture domes, VR headsets, surveys, and other research collection methods. This person will also be responsible creating documentation for electromechanical systems, will develop visual communication styles to be standardized across internal groups (standardized block diagrams, bill of materials, etc.), organize data sheet repositories, and document system components at a high level. They will start by working on the highest-impact documentation then eventually become a shared resource for the entire Research Lab, working in 2-3 month rotations to support each team and ensure they groups continue to follow documentation processes put in place. Preferably, this person will have experience looking at an organization’s current documentation infrastructure and organizing what they can while providing suggestions of other software they could implement to improve live-documentation updating with the appropriate governance.
