About Your Next Opportunity

The HTC Viveport team is looking for a VR Game Developer to help grow our developer ecosystem, and provide the technical knowledge, tools, and resources necessary to support and promote our developer facing offerings to gaming studios, content creators, and partners.


You will be on the forefront of virtual reality technology, helping Unreal developers ship the best content into our ecosystem. You will work closely with external partners and internal teams across the business to enable partner integrations that will result in high-quality content experiences published to our PC VR and mobile distribution platforms.


Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the Viveport Content & Partnerships team in executing on a vision that brings high quality virtual reality to consumers. Enable, support, and onboard third-party developers and partners, ensuring a world-class developer experience
  • Champion the needs of Unreal developers, and represent their requirements to help guide our platform product roadmap
  • Act as the technical liaison between internal RD teams and partners
  • Work closely with product and engineering teams to land our platform strategy, and to improve our tools and processes
  • Create developer facing guides, tutorials, sample code, and documentation
  • Support Unreal developers with SDK integration, code assistance, and porting optimization
  • Support the distribution of new hardware, SDK’s, tools, and development kits to developers; manage feedback
  • Analyze developer issues to guide RD to implement fixes
  • Review of feature requests from developers, and liaise with RD on product and SDK improvements
  • Host internal training sessions and technical briefings as required
  • Contribute regularly to the Developer Blog and Community Forums
  • Be our Viveport platform evangelist. Deliver technical presentations and workshops at industry events, developer meetups, and webinars


Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Abilities)

  • 3+ years of experience working as a developer with a focus on VR using Unreal game engine
  • Experience with C# or C++ coding for 3D graphics
  • Experience in profiling and performance optimization of applications
  • Experience building partnerships across multiple internal cross functional groups and external developers
  • Experience evangelizing new and existing VR technologies with developers to ensure they can take full advantage of ongoing enhancements and improvements
  • Understanding of developer segmentation and ecosystem, and how to effectively engage with and support leading content creators
  • Active member in developer user groups, and engagement with groups driving development efforts
  • Excellent documentation and presentation skills
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and highly organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize across multiple projects
  • Ability and willingness to travel to partners as well as to industry events such as Gamescom, GDC, and similar (post COVID-19)


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Abilities)

  • Familiarity with the emerging XR content ecosystem
  • Understanding of general development pipelines for XR content and games
  • Hands-on experience in XR software development
  • Track record of working with external developers and partners
