Motion Sensor Architect

Employer

Job Description

Meta Reality Labs (RL) Sensors Team is helping build novel products in Augmented and Virtual Reality. Meta AR/VR research and development in Sensors and Sensing Systems is driving the state-of-the-art forward through relentless innovation. Our team explores, develops, and delivers new cutting-edge technologies that serve as the foundation of current and future AR/VR products at Meta. We are looking for candidates who can play a pivotal role in concept creation, modeling and prototyping new sensor solutions. This role will provide an opportunity to participate in all aspects of the product life-cycle from proof-of-concept to launch and ultimately shape the future of AR/VR products.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with other researchers and engineers across both hardware and research teams at Meta to define motion sensing solutions that advance the state-of-the-art in AR/VR systems
  • Own problem space identification, building application-level requirements, sensor specification derivation and solution proposal while also supporting product integration and validation
  • Oversee system-level trade-offs in performance, battery life and hardware design of current AR/VR products and address gaps by leverage existing solutions, combining multiple sensor modalities, driving vendor roadmaps or initiating internal technology developments to improve the overall customer experience
  • Build sensor models, simulate signal chain, perform signal processing, and tune sensor parameters to optimize performance for specific applications
  • Lead internal and external partners on performance and reliability evaluations for new technology development, technology qualification, process changes to ensure manufacturing robustness

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, microsystems or related fields
  • Experience in at least one relevant specialization area including transducer architectures, analog and digital readout circuits, multi-physics system modeling and sensor fusion using Kalman filters
  • 5+ years’ industry experience developing sensors for consumer applications including gyroscopes, accelerometers, magnetometers, pressure sensor, force sensor, ultrasonic transducers and/or other MEMS transducers
  • Understanding of EE, ME, and Physics fundamentals
  • Experience with sensor system level modeling using MATLAB, Simulink, COMSOL or similar environments
  • Interpersonal experience with cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
