Expected compensation: $73.00 - $84.00 per hour

HireArt is helping the world’s largest social network hire a Software Engineer (AR/VR) to work closely within a design team to develop and maintain new AR/VR interaction experiences and game mechanics.

All candidates must have 4+ years development experience in C#/C++ within Unity and/or Unreal.

As a Software Engineer (AR/VR), You’ll
  • Optimize game engine infrastructure in terms of memory, frame rate, shader design, and performance.
  • Develop and maintain tools surrounding integrated machine learning infrastructure.
  • Design and develop core tools (e.g. UI, I/O modules, etc.) into the pipeline.
  • Work with your team to understand technical requirements.
  • Participate in technical/artistic discussions and problem-solving.
  • Work closely with design, research, and other development team members to further develop pipeline and workflows.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science or equivalent game/engine development experience
  • 4+ years development experience in C#/C++ within Unity and/or Unreal is a must-have
  • Strong programming fundamentals
  • 4+ years of game development or engine development experience within the game industry, with at least one AAA game shipped on PC or console
  • Strong knowledge of object oriented design, design patterns, 3D Math, linear algebra, vector math, and associated data structures
  • Expert knowledge of Unity3D and/or Unreal, including GUI, asset bundles, and materials/shaders
  • Strong knowledge in 3D graphics development (e.g. particle systems, shaders, etc.) and performance optimization within game development
  • A good sense of creating and maintaining code bases that are accessible and modular
Preferred experience:
  • Experience with shader development in Unity, Unreal, or AR/VR
  • Proficiency with I/O modules (e.g. game controllers)
  • 3D art/design experience (e.g. character, animation design)
  • Familiarity with Computer Vision principles
Commitment:This is a full-time, 12-month contract position (with the possibility for extension or conversion) staffed via HireArt and based in Redmond, WA. It will be fully remote until offices reopen and is available to candidates local to the Redmond, WA area.
