Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Experience building Android applications and services.
  • Experience with Android test tools such as Junit, Mockito, and Robolectric
  • Experience with optimizing CPU, memory, and battery usage in a resource constrained environment.
  • Familiarity with Android best practices regarding IPC, AIDL, Broadcasts, Intents, and Permissions.

The Google Augmented Reality team is a diverse group of experts tasked with building the foundations for great immersive computing and building helpful, delightful user experiences. We're focused on making immersive computing accessible to billions of people through mobile devices, and our scope continues to grow and evolve.

Responsibilities

  • Build robust libraries and services to be used by other Experience teams within Google.
  • Design, implement, and test robust new features in an early stage, but rapidly maturing, codebase.
  • Optimize performance of Android services and libraries using your expertise with Android internals, getting as much value as possible out of available CPU, memory, and power budgets.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
