General Summary

Qualcomm multimedia audio systems team develops and commercializes a wide range of advanced audio technologies based on signal processing as well as machine learning. The technologies include always-on wakeword detection, user voice authentication, speech enhancement, text to speech synthesis etc. These technologies are widely adopted in mobile phones, compute devices, IoT (internet of things), virtual reality devices etc.

An Audio Systems Engineer is expected to execute through the entire life cycle of the technologies, including problem definition, algorithm development and simulation, algorithm implementation with a programming language such as Python, Matlab or C, coordinating with various cross functionality teams in successfully commercializing the technology in Qualcomm's embedded platforms or hardware, engaging with leading customers to ensure successful product launch, and providing trainings to both internal teams and customers. The systems engineer will have the opportunity to work with multiple internal teams across different time zones and may have to up 10% or less business travel on average. We are seeking candidates with technical excellence in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) and Machine learning and industry experience in algorithm development & commercialization.

Responsibilities: The selected candidate will have responsibilities in one or more of the following areas:

• Audio algorithm development including creating machine learning models based on deep neural networks, CNNs, GRUs, attention networks etc.
• Algorithm implementation using fixed point and floating point arithmetic.
• Enhancing system efficiency by optimizing the footprint of audio algorithms and machine learning models.
• Ensuring successful commercialization by working with both internal teams and customers.
• Prototyping audio solutions and demonstrating and promoting latest technology to customers.

Bachelors - Computer Science, Bachelors - Engineering, Bachelors - Information Systems

Work Experiences

2+ years of Systems engineering or related work experience.
