Part Time Animator
Basic Function
This position assists with the design and development of augmented reality & virtual reality systems to support life science, physical science, and engineering training programs.
Nature and Scope
This position reports administratively to a Capability Manager or higher technical staff member. Work is performed as part of a team to produce solutions for both internal and external customers.
Essential Functions
- Collaborate with higher technical staff to support and develop innovative solutions
Success Factors
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with technical staff at all levels in a team-based environment
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills and the ability to troubleshoot challenges
- Ability to follow SOPs, document work per specifications, and complete tasking with limited supervision
- Attention to detail
Required Skills:
- Ability to produce 3D models in modern animation software (e.g., Maya, 3DS, etc)
- Ability to generate and pack UV maps
- Ability to create various texture files for 3D models using modern imaging editing software (e.g., Photoshop)
- Desire to work in a software development and engineering design environment
Preferred Skills:
- Experience creating game models for Unity game engine
- Experience creating and exporting animations in modern animation software
- Experience with software development/programming
- Experience simplifying CAD models
- Experience with industrial and/or medical modeling
Training
Initial training in AR/VR development workflows will be provided by MRIGlobal staff.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proficiency with 3D animation software
- Availability for 8 to 19 hours per week
- Provide a link to a demo reel and/or portfolio
