Hybrid:This position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. The employee's role enables them to work at a GM facility or off-site as frequently as needed or desired. This position requires an employee to be onsite1-4 x per year.

Job Summary

GM's Information Technology team is pursuing a Software Engineer who will build Virtual Reality applications that will lead in the transformation of GM's operations to virtual using immersive and digital twin technology. The developer will be responsible for building applications using Unreal Engine for various headsets such as HTC Vive, HoloLens, Varjo, etc. For this developer role within General Motors, you are responsible for developing software applications using sound, repeatable, industry standard methodologies. You will work hands-on writing software or solutions, based on detailed requirements and system specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Create Blueprints and reusable framework components as part of app development.
  • Build prototype/proof of concept VR apps based on verbal and written requirements from team members
  • Assists with performance tuning, usability assessment/improvement
  • Integrate software with existing software/systems
  • Work closely with senior developers, software engineers to gain additional knowledge and expertise.
  • Understand and maintain compliance with GM standards and industry standard methodology
  • Holds themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviors.
Qualifications

Additional Job Description
  • Technical artist or C++ developer with 3+ years of experience with Game development using Unreal Engine or Unity
  • Unreal studio developer experience ( Unreal Engine Development, Optimization, Blueprints, AI)
  • Must have experience as part of a software project delivery effort
  • Demonstrate proficiency in C++ and Visual Blueprint Scripting
  • Knowledge of Software testing, quality assurance and solutions testing including automation
  • Knowledge of maintaining and debugging live software applications
  • STEM Bachelor degree preferred with at least 3 years Unreal studio experience, or 5 to 7 years of experience developing Unreal applications.
