At Facebook Reality Labs (FRL), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are currently seeking a Lithography Nanofabrication Engineer with experience in 193nm lithography and a passion for technology and innovation to join our team, whose mission is to deliver state-of-the-art Waveguide Technologies for consumer near-to-eye displays at our research and development facilities.The position is a full-time, requiring a BS or Masters in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, physics, or similar degree. Candidates must have direct experience working in a nanofabrication environment or semiconductor applications. Successful candidates must be comfortable working in a dynamic, cross-functional team and exhibit excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Own the development and optimization of new and existing 193nm lithography processes to meet build specifications in support of near-eye optical components on pilot scale tools
- Serve as the tool owner and operational expert, develop Standard-Operation-Procedure documentation, safety protocols, and train operations team
- Develop specification documents, engage with suppliers, coordinate installation, and drive qualification of new tools
- Partner with operations and engineering team to optimize productivity and efficient execution of experiments
- Supports integration and applications cross functionally to understand process module issues/challenges
- Support and execute strategic sector projects involving definition and selection of new processing approaches, tooling, and manufacturability improvements
- Implement statistical control methods & own yield improvement Pareto within sector
- Identify key process metrics and understand relationships between sector metrics and component performance
- Develop design of experiments (DOE) to quantify process window and characterize process parameter responses
- Partner with Metrology team to gather complementary process characterization and defectivity measurements for qualifying new or improved NIL processes
- Build collaborative relationships between internal research, EHS, and external partners
- Communicates effectively with both management, peers, and external partners
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS or master's in chemistry, chemical engineering, material science, physics or similar fields
- 2+ years of direct experience in 193nm lithography process development and characterization of processes and technology related to optical component or semiconductor fabrication applications
- Experience and knowledge in SPC methods, variation analysis, and data-analysis techniques
- Experience using structured problem-solving framework for root cause analysis, familiar with RCA tools and facilitating structured problem-solving efforts
- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and experience reacting to shifting priorities to meet business needs and deadlines
- Interpersonal communication and cross-functional partnership experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
Preferred Qualifications:
- BS or master's in chemistry, chemical engineering, material science, physics or similar fields
