Subtropic is a multidisciplinary creative studio helping brands transform their audience into steadfast fans through design, innovation and strategy. Subtropic is looking for a passionate AR Designer to join our AR team. You will work in close collaboration with concept designers, developers and strategists to deliver the best AR experiences to our partners.The ideal candidate for this role will have an extensive understanding and interest in concepts as well as generate high-impact and innovative AR results for social.

What you’ll do:

  • Ideate, create, and produce AR experiences for brands on social platforms
  • Work within platform best practices to create the most optimized AR experience for clients
  • Communicate with clients and assist with any questions regarding AR specs and process
  • Define clear processes to ensure high-quality and efficient creative executions
  • Provide art direction for AR related projects and communicating to concept artists and developers from end to end
  • Researching new tech implementations and innovating on AR executions
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to strategize on how to effectively scale and operationalize AR offerings


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience working with social platform AR studios (Facebook’s Spark AR, Snapchat’s Lens Studio, Tiktok’s Effect House)
  • 5+ years of experience in AR/3D
  • Expert in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to work under pressure and rise to creative challenges under tight deadlines


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in 3D package - Cinema 4D / Maya / Blender / Houdini
  • Adept in scripting skills (Javascript, Python etc..)
  • Experience in GIT version control system
  • Advanced compositing skills (Photoshop, After Effects, Nuke, etc.)
  • Experience in real-time engines (Unreal engine, Unity, etc.)
  • OOP, OOD
  • Strong design background
  • Good communication skills, proven ability to work in a team
  • Ability to work with vague briefs or frequently changing creative direction
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and work independently
  • A self-starter, collaborator and team player
