Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of related experience including consumer-facing product design and working with immersive experiences.
  • 5 years of experience in managing or leading design teams.
  • A portfolio of work samples showcasing UX design work.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience in iterative design and delivery methodologies.
  • Experience communicating complex concepts clearly across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.
  • Ability to collaborate, experienced working across organizational and functional boundaries to prioritize opportunities and mitigate constraints.
  • Ability to thrive in a rapid paced environment on multiple projects.
  • Effective communicator (verbal and written) across different organizational levels.
  • Excellent conceptual and strategic thinker.

About The Job

As a User Experience (UX) Lead, you will help define and drive the future of Google design. You will identify and set product strategy, envision complex UX ecosystems, and inspire teams to push the boundaries of what’s possible. You will possess a clear vision of the future of user experience and have the courage to pursue forward-thinking design.

In this role, you will apply your passion for brand, craft, and design fidelity to guide research and design processes, mentor talented members of your team, and collaborate with leaders of other UX and Engineering teams to create innovative experiences across all of Google’s products. You will lead a cross-disciplinary team of UX designers, prototypers, and UX engineers (UXE). You will align the team with product stakeholders in a cohesive, collaborative way.

Responsibilities

  • Inspire, direct, and motivate a cross-disciplinary team in creating breakthrough UX design work.
  • Build a coherent vision of the experience for upcoming augmented reality (AR) products, to inform core engineering and product investments.
  • Lead UX thinking across diverse product initiatives, and build relationships and operating rhythms with leaders and product teams, setting and influencing goals and ensuring cross-functional support.
  • Implement culture and principles within the group, while setting standards in executional and operational excellence.
  • Ensure user focus from ideation through execution. Provide thought leadership in collaboration across disciplines, including design, strategy, technology, and leadership to create compelling frameworks, align on users needs, and deliver products and experiences.
