Job Description
At Facebook Reality Labs Research (FRLR), our goal is to explore, innovate, and design novel interfaces and hardware systems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Technical Program Manager to join our team, whose mission is creating the future of input and interaction for AR and VR. We are specifically looking for a candidate with experience working on early stage, cross-functional efforts working in partnership with leaders in research, hardware engineering, software engineering, product management, and design. More broadly, the chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.
- Program manage across a multiple, cross-functional programs from initial conception, through design and development, to delivery of tested, useable prototypes
- Work across cross-functional partners (engineering, research, and design) to identify scope, constraints, dependencies, risks, and timelines across programs
- Proactively identify technical, procedural, legal, logistical, and communications challenges and partner with leads to drive creative solutions to resolve issues and mitigate risks
- Coordinate communications across internal and external teams, including upwards communication to team leadership
- Holds a Bachelor’s degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field
- 3+ years experience with project/program management in a technical domain building, coordinating, and maintaining schedules and shared resources across multiple inter-disciplinary teams for hardware or software development projects
- Experience understanding and communicating technical information to non-technical stakeholders
- Track record of operating independently, demonstrating creativity, being detail-oriented, and delivering results in a highly organized manner
- Experience within academic or industry research settings
- Experience with development of novel, “0-1”, hardware prototypes
- Familiarity with one or more of the following domains would be a bonus: AR/VR, bio-sensing, HCI, novel materials manufacturing, soft electronics, wearable technologies, softgoods manufacturing, cognitive science
