We're building the virtual world for language learning. We all know that textbooks, zoom, and vocabulary apps can only take you so far. Sooner or later it's time to dive in. That's where we come in. We put you in real life situations, with real people so you can finally speak confidently.


We're looking for a Technical Artist that can collaboratively, and strategically, conceptualize, design, and implement diverse environments and interactive assets that are performant across a range of virtual reality head-mounted devices.


In this role you will:

  • Create and enhance living, breathing scenes that are both exceptional artistically and as educational spaces
  • Integrate assets in Unity without sacrificing artistic vision or exceeding technical limits of minimum specification VR devices
  • Architect and implement user interfaces for VR and keyboard+mouse using Unity’s UI systems
  • Produce particles, shaders and other VFX for Unity applications
  • Proactively train yourself to remain at the forefront of Unity Engine technology
  • Develop and maintain art production workflow/pipeline by writing scripts/tools to aid in creating more efficiently


We're looking for someone with:

  • 3+ years expert Unity experience including deep knowledge of 3D rendering in Unity as well as animation and particle tools.
  • 3+ years of experience with level design layouts, compositions, and play spaces.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the fundamentals of modeling, texturing/shading/surfacing, rigging, animation, lighting, rendering, scripting, and tool creation
  • Examples of work that demonstrate that you can overcome technical obstacles in Unity and create engaging experiences on VR platforms
  • Deep experience optimizing real-time 3D graphics pipelines for VR platforms
  • Experience working in version control (Plastic SCM)
  • Strong proficiency in 2D and 3D programs (Maya, Blender, Photoshop, etc)
  • Self-organization skills who is able to work independently
  • Strong collaboration skills, excited to work with a team

Remote work details:

  • Must be available for collaboration between 9AM-3PM PST
  • Must have access to a distraction free, quiet space during work hours
  • Must be available to attend one all team annual retreat (pending pandemic guidelines)
