At Meta Reality Labs, our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences.We are currently seeking an innovative and self-motivated Computer Vision Research Engineer with expertise in real-time computer vision, hardware, sensor fusion, signal-processing or related fields to join our team.In this role, you will help build concept devices and prototypes, software pipelines, real-time image processing algorithms, and computer vision models that infer human actions in real-time interactive systems, using data from wearable cameras and other sensors.

  • Design and develop novel computer vision and machine learning algorithms in areas such as: real-time gesture recognition, reconstruction, understanding, segmentation, and depth sensing.
  • Bring up, test, and validate new optical sensing and tracking systems to advance AR/VR interaction technologies for processing user input and/or object recognitions.
  • Build and improve data pipelines with an emphasis on supporting a multitude of sensor technologies.
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional engineers and researchers for data collection, data processing and analysis.
  • Participate in cutting edge research in computer vision and hardware.
  • BSc degree in Computer Science, Computer Vision, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or related technical field.
  • 6+ years of experience building, testing and deploying image-based processing algorithms in real-time.
  • 6+ years of computer vision experience that provides familiarity with fundamental concepts such as image formation and camera calibration.
  • 3+ years of experience working on prototype or state-of-the-art hardware systems.
  • 3+ years of experience developing in C++ and/or Python.
  • MSc or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Vision, Computer Engineering or related technical field.
  • 4+ years of industry experience.
  • Experience with sensor systems and joint hardware/algorithm design, in particular with camera hardware.
  • 3+ years of experience in bringing up, testing, and validating optical sensing and tracking systems, e.g., time of flight, depth sensors, RGB or Monochrome camera systems.
  • Experience in electronics and optics.
