Position: VR Specialist (Front End Programmer)
Location: Torrance, CA 90501
Duration: 4 months plus
Responsibilities
He/She will lead the ideation and creation of the in-vehicle prototypes and simulations including the center screen interface, meter, HUD. These experiences will be combined with VR and/or Mixed Reality, and used to demonstrate an emotional connection to our user. Creative collaboration with UX designers, prototypers, and vehicle designers (Interior/Exterior/Color and Materials) will be key. This individual will also need to interact professionally with engineers and suppliers worldwide.
The Front End Programmer will work within a team of UX and UI creatives to make custom automotive Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality experiences that are simple, beautiful, and enticing. He/She should be capable creatively and technically and be able to program, prototype, and create interaction experiences for automotive HMI using a variety of software and techniques.
Showcase new interactions centered around the vehicle center screen, heads up display, meter, and other aspects of the interior experience (illumination, sound, animation, etc).
Abilities:
- Strong and flexible visual design sense that is modern and clean yet respects the needs of designing for an automotive environment.
- Strong knowledge of programming skills.
- Strong verbal/written communication skills
- Creative brainstorming skills
- Able to communicate and work with a diverse staff of creatives and specialists
- Experience:
- 3-5+ years experience in related field
- Qualifications
- Strong understanding of visual design principles and visual execution.
- Must have good understanding of Unity Shades, Rigging, UV mapping, animations, and lighting.
- Familiar with software development process/tools on various platforms
- Familiar with software collaboration tools including Jira, Confluence, Mural
- Familiarity with Modern web development, Mac Sketch, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator/XD
- Experience manipulating motion graphic, movies, and digital models (Adobe AfterEffects, Alias, Cinema 4D)
- Experience creating 3D/VR animation/experience (Unity, Unreal Engine, etc.)
- Experience creating mixed reality simulations that combine real and simulated interactions.
- Nice to have good understanding of connecting visual data to network services
- Must have experience working with various VR sets such as Oculus quest 2, Valve index, and/or HP reverb G2.
- Must have good understanding of C#.
- Nice to have experience with setting up custom properties/assets and custom inputs in unity.
- Automotive UI experience a plus.
- Android, Android Auto, and iOS a plus
- Kanzi, Protopie, and/or CGI Studio interaction design experience a plus.
- Nice to have good understanding of VR and ART/Steam Tracking system.
- Nice to have experience working with 2D and 3D.
