At Facebook Reality Labs (FRL), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Manager to join our team, whose mission is creating the future of input and interaction for AR and VR. We are specifically looking for a candidate with experience in large-scale program or product management and who can work across a team of researchers and program managers to help the team deliver novel developments in neural interfaces. The role requires growing a team of Technical Program Managers and setting roadmaps for data collection and management programs. More broadly, the chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities, while managing a team of highly performing program managers who are experts in human subjects research.
- Responsible for people management of an organization - hiring, developing and implementing organizational structure, delivering performance reviews, providing continual feedback, coaching and career growth for direct reports.
- Articulate the technology, requirements, goals and milestones of your team.
- Work with engineering and product management leadership to define and revise the long-term strategy for the AR software organization.
- Work with the team to develop end-to-end project plans, influence teams to deliver against them, and keep the org and leadership informed on progress.
- Perform risk management and change management on projects.
- Drive internal process improvements across multiple teams and functions.
- Work with teams to set milestones, communicate project statuses, and identify/address potential setbacks.
- Work with engineering to ensure what we build has the right balance of cost vs. benefit, and focuses on addressing the highest priority partner team and customer needs.
- 5+ years of experience with building and managing a team.
- 8+ years of experience in research management, technical program management, or lab management.
- 2+ years experience with designing quantitative human subjects research or human factors research on broad populations.
- Bachelor’s degree in the field of Neuroscience, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or related STEM field.
- Experience in growing organizations and developing a team culture.
- Communication and interpersonal experience, including relationship building and collaboration within a cross-functional team.
- Familiarity with academic or industry research settings, and/or has led academic human subjects research.
- Experience with high-volume, high-pace data collection either in industry, government, or academia.
- Experience with research, development, or testing of novel bio-sensing hardware prototypes, especially electromyography (EMG), electroencephalography (EEG) and/or electrocardiography (ECG).
- Familiarity with one or more of the following domains: bio-sensing, electromyography (EMG), electroencephalography (EEG), neuroscience, Human Computer Interactions (HCI), human factors research, wearable technologies.
