Job Duties: Develop, implement and test machine learning and computer vision algorithms in Python/C++. Design, analyze and validate algorithm performances and benchmark against state-of-the-art machine learning architectures. Design and test deep-learning frameworks for multimodal datasets. Implement sensor processing and fusion pipelines for time series analysis and forecasting. Invent and develop novel algorithms for analysis and processing of medical image datasets. Evaluate new technologies and remain informed regarding state-of-art approaches in machine learning and surgical workflow analysis. Integrate new algorithms into existing and future product and platforms. Work closely with Research Scientists, Robotics Engineers, and Software Engineers in the Algorithms/AI team within the R&D Flexible Robotics organization to develop novel solutions in the area of machine learning, computer vision, augmented and virtual reality and robotic navigation. Develop skills in solving challenging problems and contribute to technology development for next generation robotic intervention platforms. Support academic collaborations in related fields. Ensure regulatory requirements of ISO 13485 and 21CFR 820. Utilize graduate-level research and analysis skills.

Qualifications

Requirements: Employer will accept Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field and 6 months of work experience in job offered or 6 months of work experience in a position-related occupation. Education or experience must include:

• Working experience in computer vision, image processing, or computer assisted intervention;
• Experience and understanding of state-of-the-art computer vision, machine learning, and deep learning algorithms and statistical models for data analysis;
• Hands-on experience with machine learning and deep learning frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, Tensorflow);
• Experience in processing of endoscopic or laparoscopic image datasets;
• Proficiency in Python, C++, ROS, and OpenCV;
• Knowledge of machine learning or deep learning architectures/networks;
• Experience with augmented or mixed reality platforms (e.g. Hololens), and software (e.g. Unity);
• Experience with medical image processing libraries (e.g. ITK); and
• Experience with sensor fusion architectures (e.g. Kalman filter or particle filters).
