AR/VR brings together world-class experts to develop and ship groundbreaking products at the intersection of hardware, software, and content. We have a clear mandate to ship products at scale. In particular, seemingly impossible products that define new categories that advance Facebook's mission of connecting the world. The Reality Labs Technology Engineering team has the responsibility for taking breakthroughs in core technology and delivering them to market at scale. The Technology Engineering Camera Team seeks an Imaging Architect who has experience in leading imaging architect development for consumer electronics product camera system.

Responsibilities
  • Lead efforts to define high-level imaging system features and specs with cross-functional team input.
  • Create proof-of-concept experience demos around latest imaging technologies.
  • Imaging system performance (MTF, SNR, etc.) modeling and analysis.
  • Heavy involvement in initial product realization and bring-up for AR/VR Cameras.
  • Imaging sensing system calibration & test method definition.
Minimum Qualification
  • Advanced degree in Imaging Science, Optics, Image Processing, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • 5+ years experience (inclusive of graduate school research experience) in imaging system development & feature definition.
  • Knowledge of digital imaging system working principles and best practices with understanding of imaging feature fundamentals and their system drivers.
  • Knowledge of a modern imaging discipline such as computational photography, computer vision, or deep learning.
  • Experience programming in at least one of the following languages: Python, Matlab, C++/C#.
  • Experience in rapid prototyping, validation, and debugging of early proof-of-concept work with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience summarizing and communicating design options, trade-offs, and imaging concepts for cross-functional collaborators with a variety of technical backgrounds.
Preferred Qualification
  • PhD in Imaging Science, Optics, Image Processing, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or a related field.
  • Understanding of overall systems interactions in the image pipeline.
  • Understanding of system performance requirements to support real-time DL/CV algorithms while capturing, encoding, and transmitting high resolution video.
  • Knowledge in all the following areas with detailed experience in at least one: Imaging system simulation, Camera module development, Optical lens design & simulation, Computational photography, Deep learning based imaging enhancement, HDR video processing, 3D scene/object capture & rendering, Deep learning & computer vision, Depth sensing technologies and their applications, ISP fundamental algorithms development, and Color imaging tuning.
  • Experience with latest generation mobile and consumer electronics chipset architectures.
  • Knowledge of Android camera HAL.
