Our team explores, develops, and delivers new cutting-edge technologies that serve as the foundation of current and future Facebook Reality Labs products. From visual localization, SLAM, 3D reconstruction, mapping, tracking and context/semantic understanding, our team is focused on taking new technologies from early concept to the product level while iterating, prototyping, and realizing the user value and new experiences they open up.

Responsibilities
  • Research, develop, and implement a certain concept/module/capability in the domain of AR and VR, leveraging various computer vision and modern deep learning techniques.
  • Collaboration with and support of other engineers/researchers across various disciplines.
  • Communication of research project agenda, projects and results.
Minimum Qualification
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in the field of Computer Vision.
  • Available for an internship between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022.
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following research fields: Mapping & Localization, Scene/Semantic Understanding, Multi-View Geometry, SLAM, Structure-from-Motion, Visual-Inertial Navigation, 3D Reconstruction, Differential Privacy in Deep Learning, Numerical Optimization and Mobile Applications.
  • Strong track record with significant publications in top computer vision conferences (e.g., CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICLR, etc.) or journals.
  • 1 year experience with Python, PyTorch and/or C++.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, cross-group and cross-culture collaboration required across multiple teams to deliver project solutions.
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualification
  • Experience in applying machine learning / deep learning in the multi-view geometry domain (e.g. SLAM, Stereo, Depth Estimation, Visual Localization, Structure-from-Motion).
  • Domain knowledge in state-of-the-art Visual Localization approaches.
  • Demonstrated software engineer experience (via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, etc).
  • Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship.
