The Facebook Reality Labs group brings together world-class experts to develop and ship groundbreaking products at the intersection of hardware, software and content. We are building the tools and experiences that make people feel closer together. This includes Oculus and Portal products, Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). We are seeking a Head of Brand Strategy (AR) to join our newly formed marcom team. The ideal candidate will have proven experience of establishing and growing strong brands. We are looking for someone who is both humble and inspiring - able to unlock the human and cultural story behind every data point, challenge assumptions and inspire creatives and product teams to develop impactful marketing strategies in service of real human needs. The Brand Strategy lead will be responsible for building and leading a team of strategists to develop and define the AR brand and products. Creating integrated strategies to reflect where we are now and where we want to be in the future. Our ideal candidate will bring a combination of cultural curiosity around the trends shaping customer behaviors today and in the future; strategic vision and communication skills; and expertise applying creative thinking to business problems. It will be critical that this person is able to unify teams around a strategic north star in a fast-paced, highly cross-functional, dynamic environment built to move fast.
Responsibilities
- Grow, coach and develop a team of brand strategists across the portfolio of AR products
- Establish and evolve the brand strategy and positioning for AR products
- Be the brand evangelist and influence company leadership and cross-functional teams, ensuring brand strategy is reflected in work and activities
- Collaborate with our internal insights team and external partners to design and analyze research
- Understand and contextualize technological and market trends and audience behavior to inform strategy and creative development
- Capture and bring to life human insights to inform creative briefs
- Deliver creative briefings, collaborating with and supporting creative teams throughout the process
- Partner with research and insights teams on programs to identify and measure long and medium-term brand value
- Collaborate closely with partners throughout the Facebook Reality Labs organization and across Facebook, including Brand and Digital marketing managers, Marketing Insights, Analytics, Product Marketing, Creative, Media, and International Marketing
- Partner with external agencies, to define communication plans, briefs, message strategy, and frameworks and guide differentiated storytelling
- Create and identify brand strategies that not only drive interest and capture new customers, but sustain existing long term relationships
- Analyze, monitor and report on the competitive landscape to determine where our brand and products fit over time, where to target consumers and how to have the greatest impact for our brand
Minimum Qualification
- 12+ years experience as a brand planner or strategist at a brand or creative agency, consultancy or internal brand-based team
- 8+ years of demonstrated people leadership and experience coaching, growing and developing team members
- 5+ years brand strategy leadership experience
- Experience building and evolving brand strategies and architectures
- Experience translating insights, ideas, and data into customer value
- Experience developing and establishing executive alignment
- Experience working in cross functional and complex organizations, collaborating with creative, research, measurement and marketing channels counterparts, where influence as well as direct responsibility matter in equal measure
- Experience simplifying complex information into consumer narratives, with storytelling prowess
- Experience working on global consumer product categories and brands such as consumer technology, AR/VR technologies, fashion, or culture driven brands
Preferred Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in delivering global culturally driven consumer centric marketing campaigns
- Entrepreneurial spirit to be successful in fast-paced environment
- International experience and experience with diverse cultural, social and business landscapes
- Experience working in the tech sector
