We are looking for a skilled and motivated Anthropometric Research Scientist to join our team, whose mission is to uncover insights about physical human attributes and optimize the attachment interface of wearable AR/VR systems. We are specifically looking for a candidate with experience in anthropometric data collection or biomechanics analysis of wearables and who can work with a team of researchers who are exploring ways to improve the wearability of wearable devices. More broadly, the chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.
Responsibilities
- Develop theories, test hypotheses, and create biomechanics models from anthropometric data that inform the design of AR/VR devices
- Develop the anthropometrics research and data collection efforts needed to a uncover insights about AR/VR wearable devices
- Mentor MS/PhD interns, contribute to your peer’s projects and work closely with external academic groups to advance our research goals
Minimum Qualification
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD in in the field of Biomechanics, Anthropometry, Apparel design, Human Factors, or related field
- Demonstrated interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
- Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
- 2+ years experience with collecting and interpreting anthropometric data
- Demonstrated experience with both small and large scale human data collect protocols
Preferred Qualification
- Demonstrated experience in the domain of designing wearables or apparel
- Demonstrated experience in the domain of data science
- Strong communication and personal management skills
- 2+ years of experience in industry
- Familiarity with OpenSim, MATLAB, Mathematica, or other modeling and simulation software
- Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, or fellowships, as well as first-authored publications in American Society of Biomechanics, Journal of Biomechanics, Applied Ergonomics, Textile Research Journal, The International Journal of Fashion Design, Technology and Education, or similar
