Facebook Reality Labs Research (FRL-R) brings together a world-class team of researchers, developers, and engineers with the shared goal of developing AR and VR across the spectrum. The charter of the Graphics Research group within FRL-R is to make exceptional consumer virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences targeting five to ten years out.We are currently seeking talented Research Scientists to help develop forward looking graphics pipelines for AR and VR, and solve the next generation of challenges in the visual computing space. The focus of this role is on inverse rendering with the primary responsibility being developing novel techniques and pipeline for high-quality graphics content creation and scene understanding. This full-time position requires a background in computer science, computer engineering, or similar areas; and a strong background in graphics/vision, machine learning/differentiable rendering, and programming.
Responsibilities
- Conceive and develop ML-based graphics/vision algorithms for lighting/material estimation, scene reconstruction, object scanning, neural rendering, etc.
- Implement proof-of-concept technical prototypes that re-define the state-of-the-art visual experiences in virtual and augmented reality.
- Lead and contribute to cutting-edge research that results in industry-leading tech demos and/or publications.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary research and engineering teams.
Minimum Qualification
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree or completing a postdoctoral assignment in the field of computer graphics, computer vision, deep learning, computational imaging, or related technical fields.
- 3+ years experience with graphics related research works with understanding of key graphics rendering concepts, such as lighting, PBR materials, ray tracing, etc.
- 3+ years experience with machine learning based research works.
- 3+ years experience with C++/Python.
- 3+ years experience with deep learning software libraries such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- 3+ years experience with scientific programming languages such as Python, MATLAB or similar.
- Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.
- Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualification
- Deep understanding of inverse rendering, 3D reconstruction, differentiable rendering, neural representation and rendering.
- Demonstrated software engineering experience within a complex codebase via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions to open source repositories such as GitHub.
- Track record of achieving results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences SIGGRAPH/SIGGRAPH Asia/TOG, CVPR/ICCV/ECCV, NeurIPS, etc.
