At Facebook Reality Labs (FRL), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a Process Development Engineer with passion for technology and leadership to join our team, whose mission is to deliver beyond state-of-the-art Waveguide Technologies for consumer near to eye displays at our research and development facilities. We are looking for a candidate with experience in materials, process technology research and development for either bonding or lamination or heterogeneous integration in the display industry or the semiconductor industry. In this role, you will collaborate with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of research scientists, process engineers and technicians towards developing future generation augmented reality displays. You will be empowered to explore future process technology roadmap and translate that into enabling fast prototyping followed by pilot scale ramp and technology transfer to a contract manufacturer. You will receive full support from the management and leadership team to grow your technical skills.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with technical program managers, leadership team and other research scientists and engineers to devise and execute on the program priorities.
- Enable identification and exploration of novel fabrication processes, technologies, materials & tools in the area of bonding, lamination and heterogeneous integration needed to enable future generation displays.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, productization and process engineering teams to deliver on research prototypes and scale up including pilot scale ramp and technology transfer to contract manufacturer.
Minimum Qualification
- Master’s degree in the field of Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Chemistry, Optical Sciences, Physics, or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of experience in technology definition, process technology research & development in novel materials integration & heterogeneous integration in semiconductor or display industry.
Preferred Qualification
- A PhD degree in the field of Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Chemistry, Optical Sciences, Physics, or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of experience in leading edge semiconductor or display fabrication leading module research and development in the area of bonding, lamination or heterogeneous integration.
- 1+ years experience in novel materials development and integration for display applications.
- 1+ years experience in adhesives, polymer development & integration in semiconductor or display applications.
