Lead engineering activities for the optical and display components for an exciting new category of AR/VR Head Mounted Display (HMD) collaboration systems. 


We are looking for an experienced, and highly motivated Principal Display Engineer/Manager to lead the Campfire Optical Systems team. This leader will be an energetic, hands-on person who can provide technical direction, contribute to display systems engineering in both prototyping and productization, and build up a strong capability in optical and display systems. 


This engineer will need strong experience in mainstream display technologies such as LCD, MicroLED, OLED, Lasers, Polarizers, Waveguides, with a special focus on AR applications. The person must be able to drive high-level display component system design, perform optimizations & trade-off analyses, component to system correlation, and holistic system level problem solving. The engineer will also need to collaborate well with cross-functional teams including optical, opto-mechanical, electrical, sensors, display & optical film vendors and manufacturing.


Requirements


  • Experience in display system engineering from design and prototyping to manufacturing
  • Display system engineering: display design, performance analysis, system to component correlation, display spec alignment, and system level problem solving.
  • Critical thinker with strong problem solving skills 
  • Work with cross-functional teams on display prototyping, development, and productization.
  • Engage with display, optics and specialized film suppliers, developing and managing key partnerships.
  • Work with manufacturing partners to build prototypes and scale up production of components
  • Contribute to display roadmap development, supporting technology validation and prototyping.
  • Good knowledge of display and optics supply chain
  • 5 years' minimum industry experience in main-stream display technologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optics or Photonics or a related field, or equivalent alternative education, skills, and/or practical experience is required.


Preferred Qualifications


  • MS or Ph.D. degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optics or Photonics
  • Fundamental knowledge of color science and colorimetry, AR/VR optics, and display testing.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical presentation and cross-functional collaboration. 
  • Expertise in optical simulation and engineering tools: Zemax, Virtuallab, FRED, Matlab, Python, JMP, Labview or similar
