Together, we can help people build stronger communities - we're just getting started.

At Facebook Reality Labs (FRL), our goal is to explore, innovate, and design novel input devices and user interfaces for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are seeking an Optical Scientist Intern with experience in optical imaging system design and hands-on prototyping who can work with a team of researchers to design, integrate, and evaluate prototype wearable optical sensing systems for next generation computing platforms in our Burlingame workplace. Our internships are twelve (12) to twenty-four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year. This position is based in Burlingame, California.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and validate new optical sensing and tracking systems to advance AR/VR interaction technologies for processing user input.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary research and engineering team to prototype hardware and software solutions and run experiments to advance the project.
  • Research next generation wearable optical sensing devices with an emphasis on both fundamental theory and physical embodiment of the new concepts.
  • The type of work should be publishable research that appears in top-tier HCI journals or at leading international conferences.
