Taxonomist & Information Architecture Strategist
our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are driving research towards a vision of an always-on AR device that can provide contextually relevant assistance across a range of complex, dynamic, real-world tasks in natural environments. To this end, we are looking for a person will focus on the strategic planning, design, and implementation of taxonomies to support categorizing and labeling of user’s psychological context for use in experimental design and machine learning.
The crux of this work is in developing, maintaining, growing a taxonomy for use in the currently open-ended landscape of potential AR application while integrating it into our broader taxonomy/ontology infrastructure. The work also includes following taxonomy management best practices, metadata and vocabulary standards, and building cross-functional relationships. This role will be focused on extending our Taxonomy to work with future AR systems and will be an amazing opportunity to help AR systems engineers identify needs for OS and Shell functionality to content creators identify applications that will improve user’s lives.
The person in this role will be expected to be an experienced taxonomist able to quickly expand knowledge domains.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Establishing a strategy for extending our taxonomy to proposes AR use cases and shell design.
Lead collaboration with UX, AI, design and data science teams.
Utilize industry best practices for taxonomy development and maintenance.
Help build out and establish a taxonomy program for goal-oriented AR applications.
Minimum Requirements
Experience leading design changes for extending taxonomies to new domains.
5+ years of experience in developing taxonomies/or ontologies to support a variety of systems both for front-end and back-end use.
Experience with developing complex taxonomies, thesauri, and ontologies.
Experience with evaluating and implementing taxonomies to support systems such as search systems and development of ML classification algorithms
Experience with a variety of topic/domain types and complexity of taxonomies.
Highly experienced communicating and presenting taxonomy principles and standards.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Library Science or Information Management
Experience with scripting language such as Python and/SQL
