At Facebook Reality Labs (FRL), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineering Manager to join and lead an Electrical Engineering team or teams of EEs, whose mission is to design, build, and test prototype electrical systems for future consumer VR and AR experiences. You will lead an engineer function exploring new concepts through fast iterative prototyping, application of new research, and developing novel solutions for user-machine interactions. You will work cross-functionally with teams that will dynamically change depending on the problem and potentially include mechanical, optical, firmware, software, and research experts. We want people who work well in teams, can brainstorm big ideas, work in new technology areas, are able to drive a concept into a design, and tolerate a high degree of ambiguity. Your primary role will include leading a team of EE’s and providing technical leadership on one of many prototyping efforts. The chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Electrical Engineering activities in a cross-functional hardware team
  • Lead a team that will drive the exploration of new electrical engineering solutions in power delivery and reclamation systems, including flexible battery solutions and energy conversion
  • Manage a wide variety of stakeholders while leading process definition
  • Collaborating in a team environment across engineering disciplines
  • Incubating new technologies into research prototypes
  • Provide assignments, direction and manage priorities to team
  • Provide management, career guidance and mentorship to team
Minimum Qualification
  • 7+ years of experience along with a BS in Energy Systems/Energy Recovery & Storage/Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years experience of managing a team of engineers
  • Experience with schematic and board design using Cadence OrCAD, Altium or equivalent
  • Experience with the use of oscilloscopes, high speed digital test equipment, logic analyzers, and function generators
  • Organization and documentation skills are key in order to share, refine, and iterate designs in the future
Preferred Qualification
  • 10+ years of experience with an MS in EE power and energy systems
  • 7+ years experience managing multiple teams
  • Experience with VR/AR systems or wearable technologies
  • Experience with energy storage and a background in battery technologies
  • Proven record leading cross functional teams to execute product development on schedule
  • Proven record of managing careers and careers development for led teams
  • Experience working independently and managing priorities resulting in creative/innovative solutions to novel problems
