Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) Sensors Team is helping build novel products in Augmented and Virtual Reality. Facebook AR/VR research and development in Sensors and Sensing Systems is driving the state-of-the-art forward through relentless innovation. Our team explores, develops, and delivers new cutting-edge technologies that serve as the foundation of current and future AR/VR products at Facebook. We are looking for candidates with experience in designing electrical systems from concept to manufacturing, including schematic design, board layout, test, and debug to assist with the development of novel hardware products within the FRL Sensors Team, while collaborating with experts across multiple domains.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with other engineers and researchers across Facebook to develop novel hardware products that advance the state-of-the-art in AR/VR systems and wearables
- Schematic design, board layout, prototyping, test, and debug of electrical systems for high-performance Motion Sensors
- Organize and lead design reviews, solution brainstorm sessions, and disseminate findings
- Work with the team to help design, setup, and run practical experiments related to sensor systems in AR/VR products and wearables
Minimum Qualification
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering, or related fields
- 5+ years’ experience in designing and shipping mid to high volume products
- 5+ years’ experience in schematic and board design using Altium or equivalent
- Hands-on experience with integration of Microelectromechanical (MEMS) Sensors such as Gyroscopes, Accelerometers, Pressure Sensors, Microphones or Ultrasonic Transducers into complex systems
- Experience with analog front-end design for sensor systems
- Circuit design experience with Microcontrollers and/or FPGAs
- Experience with standard MCU interfaces such as USB, I2C, UART, and SPI
- Demonstrated experience in cross-functional collaboration
Preferred Qualification
- MS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 2+ years’ experience in embedded software development using C/C++
- 2+ years' experience with scripting environments such as MATLAB and/or Python
- Experience with analog and mixed signal circuit design for integration of MEMS sensors, specifically power supply, signal conditioning, and clock synchronization
- Experience in electronics packaging, PCBA mechanical design, electro-mechanical integration & interconnects
- Experience providing oversight to the fabrication and participate in assembly, integration, and test
- Familiarity with the emerging Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality technologies
- Creativity and problem-solving skills
